13th October 2012

The 3rd Annual TAMING THE NILE 5K/10K event takes place on 13th October 2012 @ Hobgood Park.

This annual event aims at raising awareness and fighting Global malaria the World's most infectious killer disease that's killing a child every 30 seconds mainly in Sub Saharan Africa.

The event is organized by CHANCE Afrika, an International 501(c)(3) non profit organization based in Atlanta, Georgia that seeks to help and support in the development of children and local communities through sports, health & educational programs.

We ask you to make this a fixture in your calendar, and come in and let's help fight this Global scourge together.

  1. Last year we had over 250+ runners.
  2. From our efforts we reached out to over 1000 kids in Kenya (watch video across)

Why should I Run/Walk?

  1. To add to your 5K T-shirt collection.
  2. Join others for a FUN event.
  3. And a portion of your registration fees will go towards supporting a local Youth Soccer Program right here in GA.

STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS

Each year we partner with 2 great Rotary Clubs - Rotary Club of Canton, GA and the Rotary Club of Langata in Kenya.

This is a wonderful International Service project and members from both clubs were eager to make it work and succeed.

This year we are partnering once again with both clubs and ask other clubs to JOIN IN and lets make it a worthwhile project impacting more lives.

What inspires us;
  1. Malaria remains the most infectious killer in the world today.
  2. A child dies of malaria every 30 seconds with 60 children dying everyday in Kenya.
  3. There are 300 million cases of malaria every year causing nearly one million deaths, mostly among African children.

WHY are we so MOTIVATED to ACT !

  • Because malaria is both preventable & curable.
  • Sleeping under a treated mosquito net can reduce the incidence of malaria by up to 90%

That is HUGE and with your support we can significantly reduce infection rates, saving thousands of lives.
